    Geospatial Literacy Meets Entrepreneurship

    Geospatial technology is reshaping sectors from agriculture to urban planning — yet most graduates have never touched a GIS tool. This workshop bridges that gap by combining spatial data literacy with venture-building skills. Across four days, participants move from understanding what GIS is, to collecting field data, to building a geospatial business concept — with real Indian context throughout.

    Day 1

    ~6 Hours

    Foundations — What is GIS?

    Introduction to geospatial thinking — what is GIS, how spatial data is collected, and who uses it (urban planners, public health, precision agriculture, insurance, logistics). Indian startups and government applications. Spatial problem discovery exercise.

    Day 2

    Tools & Data

    Hands-on with QGIS fundamentals — raster vs vector, layers, symbology. Satellite imagery analysis including NDVI for vegetation health. Setting up mobile data collection with Survey123/ODK. Building a first map prototype with Google My Maps.

    Real fieldwork by discipline — GPS data collection tailored to civil, agriculture, health, or environmental contexts. Import collected data into QGIS, clean, analyse with overlays, build a data narrative, and present findings.
